Wheat pancakes…really???

I stepped on the scale this morning and found a surprise.  I’ve lost 3.5 lbs.  There was another surprise in store for me today.  Wheat pancakes actually taste good.  I went to Denny’s and had them for the first time.  I had them with fruit, turkey bacon, and chicken sausage.  I skipped the hash browns, which can be like crack to me.  I used to have Waffle House on speed dial during medical school.  Just call me Ms. Scattered, Smothered, and Covered.  LOL.  I chewed slow and ended up not even eating an entire pancake before I was full.  I even went really light on the syrup.  I’ve found this chewing more times to be a Godsend.  I truly believe I was eating so fast that my body didn’t have a chance to signal it was full before I had plowed past the point of satiety.  I’ll have to see what surprises are in store for tomorrow.
5 days down, 16 to go until it’s a habit.  Wish me luck.
Much nub and fitness,

Temptation Island

Have you seen that show Temptation Island?  That was theme of the day.  I had to avoid the pitfalls of the yummy doughnuts and gourmet cookies.  For those that don’t know me, I have a huge sweet tooth, so this was huge.  I walked through the door at my mom’s house and was greeted by bacon and potato chips.  I briskly turned on my heels and walked past them.  I am proud.  I avoided all of it!    People keep saying “nothing tastes as good as being lean feels.”  I guess I have to get lean to see if it’s true.  Thanks for all of your help.  I had extra willpower because I didn’t want to admit to all of you that I was eating calorie/fat laden sweets.

I need to make a correction.  I double checked and keep seeing 21 days to create a habit.  So it’s 4 days down, 17 days until it’s a habit:)

My First Post: Here I am!

Hey, y’all. Welcome to my new blog. Have you ever woke up one morning and realized your favorite clothes didn’t fit? Have you ever started looking at the scale sideways because you feel like it’s going to bite you? Have you ever wondered why your gym membership card sits gathering dust unused in your wallet? These are part of the reasons for this new blog. I am thirty something, and I love my thirties. The only thing I don’t like about them is the Kryptonite-like effect on my metabolism.

I decided that I needed a way to be about the business of getting healthier because I deserve it. This was a way to have all of you hold me accountable, and to make the journey fun. I was feeling so overwhelmed about getting started. Between the pressure I put on myself and the pressure that comes when people remind you that you’ve put on some pounds. Like you never noticed? LOL. I needed something to tip the scale balancing my motivation versus procrastination. I ran out of excuses, so here I am. 2010 is my year for no excuses.

Thanks for checking me out. I’ll be posting daily about my adventures in the pursuit of healthiness. Let me know what you think. I’m ready to get it started. I better wrap this up because I am going to attend my first spin class at 6 am. Wish me and my butt luck! I have a my padded seat:)

Much nub and good health,

EG
